Improvers Commercial Street Dance Class

Our Improvers Commercial Street Dance class is a 'follow on' from the beginners level and further develops the basic moves before creating an impressive routine.

Commercial street dance combines the best of Jazz Dance and Street Dance to make an exciting mix of moves, popular with music mega stars such as Madonna and Justin Timberlake. It's sharp, sassy and certainly catches the eye.

If the rhythms of the street are under your skin, it's a good idea to let them play out, otherwise you may have a riot on your hands.

Commercial Street Dance Skills Development

Our improvers course is perfect for those who have completed our beginners course or who have some dance experience. It's fast and fun, with lots of laughs and the chance to express yourself. We like to keep it lively!

Exact content may differ depending on the students' needs and course duration, but topics generally covered include:

• Increased understanding of the fundamentals of basic modern jazz dance and street dance

• Continued learning about posture and position in dance, spatial awareness and performance

• Losing inhibitions and gaining confidence

• Developed fitness, balance and flexibility

• Review of basic footwork such as basic corner to corner work of commercial street jazz

• Introduction of new co-ordination steps

• Development of new routines with increased focus on co-ordination and performance

• Introduction of new steps turns and kicks

• Learning more sophisticated performance skills such as fun sequences, floor work and leaps

• Hip Hop

• Recap of basic patterns of working with a partner such as a duet, trio or group Intensive lesson on performance and technicality

• Chance to perform your dance routine as a solo, duet, trio, etc

• Friendly feedback throughout

Something to Think About

There are a few additional costs you may need to consider:

Footwear and Clothing
Recommended are trainers/ jazz boots or jazz shoes.
(Specialised stockists such as Gamba Freed and Dancia which have outlets in and around London can provide appropriate footwear)

Comfortable clothing such as leggings, jazz pants, tight tracksuit bottoms, shorts, crop tops, tight t-shirts are recommended.

Don't forget your bottle of water.

Improvers Commercial Street Dance Course Progression
