Showreels are an invaluable tool in obtaining work as an actor.

Agents will often ask for showreels to assess an actor’s suitability to gain representation. Without doubt a showreel demonstrates professionalism and commitment to acting and will greatly assist in obtaining work.

But what if you have only recently had training or have only performed on stage.... 

Without a showreel you can’t get film/TV work and without film/TV work you can’t compile a showreel!

Here is City Academy’s answer to the problem....

A showreel, tailor-made and edited for you, of broadcast quality shot and directed by industry professionals from scratch.

A four minute edited showreel featuring an opening montage followed by 3 contrasting acting scenes supplied on DVD and formats suitable for uploading to casting websites.

Here’s how it works: we bring 4 actors together, select, rehearse, direct, shoot and edit three contrasting scenes. In this way we can create broadcast quality dynamic scenes with reaction shots and dialogue. With the cost spread across 4 actors this is a very competitive product.

How the Showreel will work...

• You can either come to us as a group of 4 or we can bring 4 actors together.

• An initial weekday evening 2 hour meeting. Discussion and agreement of scripts/scene genre.

• Scripts to actors for an approx seven day script learning period.

• 3 hour weekday evening rehearsal.

• Rehearsal and Film shoot. 10.30 to 5.30 (usually a Sunday) at Mount Pleasant Studios.

How the Showreel will be produced...

4 Actors: A, B, C & D

1)         A acts in scene with B

2)         B acts in scene with C

3)         C acts in scene with D

4)         D acts in scene with A

5)         Each actor performs a monologue each.

This way each actor has 3 edited scenes (two duologues and one monologue) plus an opening montage.
