Developing The Actor’s Voice

Course Description This course offers students a unique opportunity to focus specifically on developing vocal techniques. Students will be exposed to a range of skills that will improve the expressiveness of their voice and build their confidence at speaking in front of people. There is ample opportunity to practice in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Students will work with radio and theatre scripts throughout the week and perform readings from these for an informal performance on the last afternoon of the course for family and friends. Voice & Vocal Skills Development Learn a set of vocal exercises and text for daily practise and up-keep Increased confidence in the ability to communicate through the voice Increased ability to express the physical power and beauty of language Improve vocal confidence when faced with new and/or challenging situations Voice Training Class Content The course is designed to develop acting techniques most appropriate for those with little to no voice training. However, exact course content may differ as it is often tailored to the students taking the course. The length of your course will also affect the material covered but will generally follow this structure: Example: 6 Week Voice Training Course Week 1 Posture Relaxation Breathing Technique Week 2 Resonance Projection Pitch Week 3/4 Tone Articulation Week 5 Students are given a selection of radio and theatre scripts to work on Week 6 Informal performance in front of family and friends and individual feedback

How our Vocal Training is Taught In this practical and dynamic class, students will be taught Acting through: Explanation, demonstration, suggestion, direction, repetition, revision and practising Whole group work / small groups / pair work and solo work to consolidate learning Written material to support practical learning Feedback to Confirm Progress Students will receive continual feedback from the tutor throughout the course. There will also be many opportunities for self-assessment and peer assessment. At the end of the course your tutor will assess the progress you have made. Additional Information Wearing comfortable clothes and bringing a bottle of water is recommended. Scripts will be provided. Acting Teacher: Cat Clancy

Actor, singer and cabaret performer, Cat Clancy has been regularly wowing critics and fellow professionals from the Royal Shakespeare Company to Oscar-winning lyricist Don Black. Best Actress award winner, she has performed on stage and screen from The Ritz to Pizza on the Park. Cat brings all of her experience and acting and performing skills to help you get the most out of acting.

For 10 and 12 week courses you are welcome to join up to Week 3.
