This 'follow on' from the Bollywood beginners level will take you further into the limitless dance vocabulary of Bollywood, blending Indian classical dance, jazz, hip-hop and modern.

You will be immersed in the technique, discipline and emotion behind Bollywood dance as well as enjoying its fundamentally fun and comical style.

Improvers Bollywood is where you bring the essential Bollywood techniques to life before putting them all together in an exciting East-West combination routine.

Bollywood Dance Skills Development

Improvers Bollywood Dance is ideal if you have taken the Bollywood beginners course at City Academy or at another dance school.

In a fun, supportive atmosphere you will learn how to set the emotional expression behind each Bollywood dance free. It's time to tap into the heart of Bollywood.

Exact content may differ depending on your needs and course duration, but topics generally covered include:

• Understanding of body posture and spatial awareness in relation to dance

• Gaining a solid base of Bollywood dance vocabulary

• Isolating body parts to define movements

• Improving coordination and rhythm

• Development of simple movements beginning with the progressive engagement of each limb to develop coordination

• Popular, simple Bollywood dance routines

• Detailed hand gestures and movement angles will be of particular focus

• Eastern aspect of Bollywood including the styles of Bhangra, Traditional and Garba dance

• Western aspect of Bollywood including the evolution of Bollywood dance, venturing into the styles of Street Bhanga dance

• You'll receive friendly feedback throughout

It's an active, dynamic class so comfortable, loose clothing is recommended to allow arms and legs to move freely.
