City Academy offers contemporary voice training for people who take their singing seriously to people who just want to sing for fun. We offer a range of courses in varying levels and styles, so that you can explore your voice and develop your singing style.

Our teachers are professionally qualified and all have performance credits to their name. So whether you’ve only ever serenaded in the shower, karaoked with friends or have previous training, our vocal experts can bring out the singer in you.

City Academy singing classes are organised along three different lines:

General classes for those who want to try singing but are not sure where to start
“Core” singing classes in four different levels
Specialist classes for those looking for something a bit different

Core Singing Lessons

Level 1: Beginners Singing Lessons

This is suitable for those starting from the very beginning, or those with some experience. This course will teach you the basics techniques for singing, and will focus on a range of different styles from musical theatre to pop and jazz.

Level 2: Improvers Singing Lessons

This is a “follow on” from Singing Level 1 and can be suitable for those with some previous experience. This course builds on the techniques learnt in Level 1 and develops them further. Music will be chosen from a broad range of musical styles.

Level 3: Intermediate Singing Lessons

This is a progression from Singing Level 2 and is for the more experienced singer. This course will lead to a significant increase in skill development. The material will be more difficult than previous levels, along with aspects such as reading music being introduced. The material will change every time the course is offered and it is advisable that students take this course several times before moving on to Singing Level 4.

Level 4: Advanced Singing Lessons

This is a progression from Singing Level 3 and is suitable for those with substantial experience. The course will be challenging both vocally and musically. This is the highest level of training offered at City Academy and the material will be designed to challenge the individual students on the course. Students will find the repetition of this course invaluable as the material and challenges will change as the individual singer develops.
