Beginners Tap Dance
Beginners Tap Class
Our Beginners Tap Dance Class is a step-by-step guide to the essential steps, sounds, and moves of tap dance.
The course starts with the sounds you can make, learning the names as you go, from where you will build up to simple steps on the spot and travelling steps.
You will learn rhythm and how to develop the subtle light and shade needed for perfect tap dancing. With a bit of practise at home, this all comes together in a complete dance routine and you'll have mastered the single shuffle time step with the break too!
If you have always thought that tap looks like a great way to find your dancing feet, then our beginners course is for you.

Something to Think About
We need you to have the right kind of shoe, after all if you can't hear the taps there's no point in tapping!
Footwear:
Tap shoes are necessary for rhythm and sounds and overall feel and sound for tap dance. Hard bottomed shoes are acceptable for first few weeks, but tap shoes are recommended.
(Specialised stockists such as Gamba Freed and Dancia, which have outlets in and around London, can provide appropriate footwear.)
Clothing:
Baggy clothes and tracksuits, tights and leotards or jazz pants are recommended. Work clothes, jeans and tight fitting clothes are not suitable.
