The timetable for each Saturday offers a busy, active and informative range of classes:

  • Acting – creating a character, scene study and insight into established methods.
  • Screen Acting – learn techniques while being filmed with instant playback.
  • Movement – gain confidence and an insight into body language.
  • Voice – work with a professional voice coach, gain confidence, range & clarity.
  • Group Singing – gain projection, range, volume.
  • Sessions on Stage Fighting, Accents, Improvisation.
  • Photography shoot to create actors headshot photographs for Agents & castings.

Foundation Course Curriculum Plan

Acting Development

Aims to develop: Acting techniques utilising scene study, improvisation, naturalism and vocal and physical control: ‘Tools’ for creating characters: insight into a wide range of theatrical and dramatic genres: exercises to instil focus, relaxation and confidence: physical warm up and preparation exercises to form the basis of a disciplined and professional attitude: improvisation skills: an understanding and use of different theatre practitioners’ techniques to improve concentration, focus, relaxation and performance skills: techniques to aid creation of characters to form the basis of the development of a secure physical and emotional technique.

Acting for Camera

Aims to develop: an understanding of different techniques for acting for camera: an understanding of the technical demands of screen acting: communicating emotion on camera and creating a truthful believable performance. Filmed in class with instant reviewing and feedback.


Aims to develop a secure vocal and breathing technique: posture and stance: projection and volume: extension of vocal range: highlight diction and clarity. Instruction on the how the voice works and how to use it safely. Gain techniques for a performance fit voice.


Aims to develop: confident use of movement in physical development of characters: interpretation of characters through physicality: rhythm and accuracy in movement to music: secure and safe stage craft.

Do I need to Audition?

This course does not require you to audition. The course is carefully planned to ensure it is challenging and demanding for each individual and tailored to the experience or confidence level of participants.

Showcase Performance

Following the final Saturday of the course, on the Sunday, you will participate in a Showcase Performance. This is the opportunity to perform rehearsed scenes and demonstrate the skills gained during the course. You may invite guests including friends, family and industry contacts. The showcase will be held at a fully equipped performance venue, The London Improv Theatre.

Teaching Faculty

All City Academy Drama School teachers are experienced professionals from theatre, film, TV and the performance industries.


Many are producing, directing or choreographing courses at full time Drama Schools. Each discipline on the course is taught by a specialist tutor.

All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
