Our Musical Theatre Companies are reuniting again to re-visit the vibrant and timeless classic numbers from iconic broadway composer Cole Porter with our The Songs of Cole Porter - A Concert for the NHS.
The hit musical 'Kiss Me Kate' was due to be rehearsed and performed by our Companies in 2020, however due to the disruptions of Covid-19 pandemic, the show was subsequently postponed. We are very excited to now have the opportunity to present some of the most loved numbers from the 'Kiss Me Kate' composer Cole Porter, in two special performances, with all proceeds going to NHS charities.
With only four evenings of rehearsals, this will be a fun and exciting challenge to learn and retain harmonies, dance moves and staging in a short space of time. The show will include well known and much loved numbers from the musicals 'Kiss Me Kate', 'Anything Goes' and 'High Society'.
THE WORKS OF COLE PORTER
The performances will take place on Saturday 18th December at The Bridewell Theatre in the heart of London, live in front of a paying audience. All funds raised by the audience will be donated to an NHS charity.
Our aim is to celebrate the wonderful, joyful scores of Cole Porter in a relaxed environment whilst raising money for a great cause. With numbers such as ‘Another Op’nin’ Another Show’, ‘Too Darn Hot’ and ‘Brush Up Your Shakespeare’, you will have a lot of fun working with a fantastic creative team to put together a really special concert that you will be proud of.
Rehearsal Dates
Tuesday 14th December - Friday 17th December. Rehearsals will be at 6:00pm-9:00pm and held at The Bridewell Theatre each evening.
Performance Date
Saturday 18th December at The Bridewell Theatre
IN THIS COURSE YOU WILL
- Start each session with a physical and vocal warm up which will help technique, build stamina and focus you for the session ahead
- Work on a classic book style of Musical Theatre through the songs and choreography which will enhance your versatility as a Musical Theatre performer
- Be working hard and fast as a team to absorb the materials in an encouraging environment
- Recap and build on new material throughout the four days to refine and perfect the numbers
- Perform the pieces to a paying and supportive audience in an informal theatrical setting with live piano/keys accompaniment from a musical director.
PLEASE NOTE
You will be joining an existing group who have already rehearsed some of these numbers well over a year ago so we very much envisage that not much of that has been retained so we understand that we will be starting again with the choreography and vocal harmonies which is why we are opening this up to anyone who would like to join in with the challenge. Our Musical Theatre Company students have all been through Beginners and Improvers Musical Theatre Courses with City Academy prior to joining the company so the level we are working at is advanced.
There will be some performance solos from the lead roles who have already been previously cast so joining in would mean being in the Ensemble for this project.

All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
