Our practical media training course draws on our industry knowledge to provide practical skills for identifying a story, pitching it effectively and building interest in your brand.
In the first part of this course, you will learn to see each situation from a journalist’s perspective. Exploring the current landscape of UK media and the key players. You will understand how a journalist’s objectives may differ from your own, helping your story to be picked up by the media. Exercises will be practical in nature and comprise of real-life examples.
As with many of our TV and Media Training courses that use performance-technique based in psychology, you will feel confident embodying the vocal and physical skills required to convey a powerful message in a succinct way. Through play-back and group observation, you will be guided to avoid pitfalls and reduce habits which distract from the performance. You will learn to use your personality to connect with an audience, and hone the structure and delivery of a one-on-one interview.
This media training course will conclude by looking at ways to bring an online persona to life and sharing top tips to manage your brand.
Our classes are limited to 8 students to make sure everyone is given individual feedback.
Media Training Courses CONTENT
During the media training classes you will:
- Understand how the media works
- Use press releases to identify story hooks
- Learn how to predict the question
- Understand your personal USP and competition in the market
- Learn how to bring your brand to life
- Develop a persona and communicate this authentically
- Avoid pitfalls in interviews and help steer the conversation
- Handle tricky questions
- Build vocal techniques - clarity, confidence, delivering succinct content in an engaging way
- Use camera and playback to practise and refine your skills
By the end of this class, you will have more confidence delivering a message to camera (for television), and a voice recording (for radio).

No Venue
All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
