City Academy Takes to the Skies with easyJet & Eurovision

easyJet’s sky-high Eurovision celebration featured a unique twist – a few brilliant City Academy performers on board to bring some extra sparkle to the journey.

On May 12th, easyJet launched a once-in-a-lifetime fan flight from London Gatwick to Basel, the beating heart of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. On board? A cabin full of superfans, a glitter-filled photo booth, drag royalty Ginger Johnson, and centre stage – three incredible performers from City Academy, repping the UK, Ireland, and Germany with their high-energy charisma.

easyJet’s “Sky High Orange Runway” transformed the aisle into a glittering stage for an airborne Eurovision spectacular, complete with scoring paddles and mid-air choreography. Our very own Elaine McAdam brought the house (well, the cabin) down with a rousing rendition of Mamma Mia, channeling her Irish roots with a joyful burst of Irish dancing. Anita Hammerton-Reid followed with powerhouse vocals on It’s Raining Men for Team UK, while Germany’s Lilly Nagy had passengers waving their hands and hearts to her defiant, disco-fuelled I Will Survive.

In true Eurovision style, passengers scored the acts on flair, vocals, and sheer fabulousness. With cheers echoing down the aisle and tray tables tucked away, it was Elaine who claimed the top spot and took home the (very sparkly) mid-flight trophy.

This was more than just a flight – it was a brilliant showcase of creativity, community and performance. Our City Academy performers brought energy, talent and joy to the skies, and we couldn’t be prouder.

A big thank you to easyJet for inviting us to be part of such a unique event. And to Elaine, Anita and Lilly – congratulations on an unforgettable performance.
