City Academy was lucky enough to have two pieces of good news following the announcement of the shortlist for the 16th annual What’s On Stage Awards last Thursday.
Our Head of Musical Theatre – Rebecca Wicking – received a nomination in the Best Off-West End Production category as a cast member of You Won’t Succeed on Broadway If You Don’t Have Any Jews, which ran at St James Theatre earlier this year. When we spoke to her about the nomination she said:
“Everyone involved is so proud of what we managed to achieve with the show, so for it to continue to receive recognition months after it closed is wonderful. The fact that the shortlist is decided by public vote makes it even more special”.
We were also thrilled to hear that our choreographer for the Musical Theatre Studio Company‘s recent production of Stephen Sondheim’s Company – Racky Plews – received two nominations for her involvement in Green Day’s American Idiot at the Arts Theatre.
The What’s On Stage Awards is the only major UK theatre awards decided by a public vote. Click here to vote for the Award Winners (voting closes on 31st January)
