Meet Miguel Domingo-Redondo, one of our Film School<\/a> tutors. Miguel who is a professional animator and After Effects master discusses the current state of the film industry, where he learnt to make films and what you can expect from his Filmmaking classes<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

How would you describe your classes?<\/strong><\/p>\n

My classes are just a means to encourage people to go further.\u00a0Although the students may have to follow and repeat some exercises,\u00a0the point of the lessons are to reuse the knowledge acquired in a\u00a0thousand different ways.<\/p>\n

What do you like about teaching?<\/strong><\/p>\n

If knowledge breaks barriers and provides freedom, to be able to\u00a0contribute to that is both a pleasure and an honour.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your piece of work that you are most proud of?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nearly all of them....it's like the feeling of a parent towards their\u00a0children. All of them are unique and the best I could do back in the\u00a0moment I did them. Obviously, newer pieces are more sophisticated and\u00a0visually complex, so they are more pleasant to the audience but old\u00a0ones maintain their charm.<\/p>\n

Where did you learn to make films?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I haven't stopped. I have been always interested in storytelling. Originally I started with comic\u00a0books and slowly shifted towards moving image.\u00a0Equally important for my work was the time I spent in Top Hat\u00a0Comic Workshop or Tot Art Preproduction courses back in Spain and\u00a0my university years doing Animation in Westminster University. These\u00a0shaped my view on film and storytelling.\u00a0Now I keep learning from peers, strangers and experience alike.\u00a0There is no rest for the wicked.<\/p>\n

What or who do you admire in the filmmaking<\/a> industry at the\u00a0<\/strong>moment?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Its heterogeneity. We are talking about an industry that with its\u00a0current paradigm you can achieve worldwide exposure both with low\u00a0cost guerilla productions alongside Hollywood style super productions.<\/p>\n

What are you currently working on?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Right now on several projects. A nationwide social campaign that\u00a0will be launched next year; producing assets for documentary<\/a> for a\u00a0middle east channel; and preparing a video-dance project produced\u00a0earlier this year, to be sent to festivals.<\/p>\n
