Creative design company Rufus Leonard were looking for a fun, energetic experience to get the team out of their comfort zone. After a brief discussion it became clear that a dance-off was the way forward.
City Academy has taught dance to over 50,000 adults since 2007. For Rufus Leonard’s Dance-Off we recruited two of our most senior Street Dance tutors and set them the task of designing an experience to suit the company.
On the day, we divided the company in two and put the teams through their paces by running mini-challenges. Teams were encouraged to dress as “street” as possible (and they didn’t disappoint!). The professional dance teachers then taught each group a separate routine based on popular dance tracks the teams had requested (in this case, ‘Crazy in Love’ and ‘Uptown Funk’). The dance routines incorporated choreographed moves with new material and were pitched at Beginner Level.
For the final showcase the teams came together in true street-dance fashion and, in front of a panel of expert judges, gave a brilliant street-dance performance in front of an audience of cheering colleagues.
“We had a brilliant time yesterday. I have had so many positive comments from participants and everyone, many saying it is the best event we've ever done and that is thanks to you and your team.”
