Stand Up Comedy Summer School Schedule

DAY ONE

The first day of the week will focus on joke writing. You will look at different ways of structuring straightforward jokes for delivery on stage and online. Using a mixture of set structures and free-form writing techniques, you will write your own material and share it with the rest of the group.

DAY TWO

You will learn how to keep an audience captivated through storytelling techniques, focusing on true stories and personal anecdotes. You will boost your gag rate and turn a funny incident into an extended routine.

DAY THREE

The penultimate day will focus on character comedy and improvised comedy. Learn the art of performing in character, creating comedy personas that will have your audience in stithches. Develop the ability to venture off-script to react to everything from the latest news to moments that arise with audience members. This is a trait shared by all the best comedians, crucial to generate spontanous laughter.

DAY FOUR

In preparation for your evening showcase,  day four will look at performance skills. Put your ideas together, build a set and polish your performance. This day will also look at advice on breaking into the industry.

Showcase Performance

The evening of the last day will see you and your fellow students perform your material in a central London venue. The showcse will be open to friends and family.
