Filmmaking for Beginners Lessons
Matt is a freelance filmmaker with a huge range of experience across the corporate, media and art sectors.
Matt Kowalczuk took an intensive filmmaking course before gaining a place on the Media Foundation Placement Scheme, funded by independent production companies as well as the BBC, ITV and Channel 4. He worked for a small production house in Manchester, while also receiving training at both ITV and BBC Manchester (BBC Academy).
Matt has since worked on various short films and as Assistant Editor on the X-Factor. He has also been employed as the Director of Photography for Rising, a documentary feature film about the plight of the ‘Birangona’ in Bangladesh.
As well as working as a filmmaker, Matt is a passionate film instructor who loves to share his knowledge and skills with his students. In class he aims to give students a sense of what it is like to work in film, and tries to keep his lessons as practical as possible – giving students an overview of the filmmaking process.
