Rachel trained on the Joint Course at the Royal Northern College of Music and University of Manchester. Prior to her undergraduate training she also completed the two-year jazz course at the Royal Academy of Music. She combines her love and knowledge of classical, jazz and contemporary in the music she performs and teaches.
Rachel has experience teaching all levels, from beginners to advanced. She chooses repertoire both suitable to the student’s ability and musical interests, from pop to classical, and has knowledge of the technical demands of both genres.
Rachel performs regularly as a soloist, with recent performance credits including: Sideshows jazz opera-ballet by Leo Geyer at Grimeborn Opera Festival (Arcola Theatre) and Edinburgh Festival (C Venues); soloist with Khymerikal chamber ensemble at Lancaster Jazz Festival and Stratford Shakespeare Festival; and Charlotte Brontë in Glasstown opera-ballet by Leo Geyer at the Arts Theatre in London.
Aimee is currently studying for a Master’s degree at the prestigious Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. She is a professional opera singer and has a wealth of experience.
As a soloist, Aimee performs a range of opera, oratorio and lieder. Recent operatic roles include Lucy (Menotti’s The Telephone) and Ines (Il Trovatore). She has also sung Mahler’s Fourth Symphony with Halesowen Symphony Orchestra and with the University of Manchester Symphony Orchestra, and was a soloist in Bach’s Magnificat and Cantata 191 with The Suffolk Ensemble at the Snape Maltings Concert Hall.
As well as working as a performer Aimee is also a passionate tutor. She loves helping people to express themselves through, and find enjoyment in, singing. Her classes are always fun and encouraging, but she also places a huge emphasis on ensuring her teaching is underpinned by healthy and reliable vocal technique – helping her students develop an even tone and access more of their range.
