Zakia Carpenter-Hall is a writer and facilitator from the US who currently lives in London. She holds an MFA with Distinction in Creative Writing, and is a winner of Poetry London’s inaugural Mentoring Scheme.
Her work has appeared in visual poetry exhibitions and publications such as Callaloo Journal and Magma. She is a Former Writer in Residence with The Poetry School and London Parks & Gardens Trust, and author of published poetry collection ‘Event Horizon’.
With emphasis on student participation and learning, she has taught seminars at the University of Kingston on writing for advertising, fiction, poetry, script and journalism. As a creative writing tutor, she is experienced in leading writing workshops, classes and museum activities – inspiring her students to find the writer within.
