Sati Sohal

Sati founded his company Talking Pictures 20 years ago. He has directed over 40 films in various genres including drama, documentaries, live events and vox pops for a variety of clients including corporate, local authorities, museums and charities.

He has researched, scripted and directed several historical dramas, commissioned as part of museum exhibitions. In creating a juxtaposition between narratives, he sought to tease out the politics of the time. Sati has edited all of his productions, working with Premiere CC and AfterFX, creating VFX from chromakeying to adding particles such as fire elements and lighting. He has created bespoke set designs with embedded video content and installed digital management systems.

“I believe students learn by practising. I try to have a balance of class demonstration and individual attention. Where possible I like to combine practical elements with an appreciation of the audio-visual language, and show examples of work from well-known practitioners.”
