Useful information

Who is the Assemble Theatre Company for?
This company is ideal for improvers and early intermediate-level actors. You should have completed an acting course (such as Acting Beginners and Improvers), or have some stage experience and feel ready to take on a full play in a company setting.
What kind of play will we perform?
You'll work on a full-length published play, often contemporary or modern-classic, selected by your director to suit the company’s strengths. Scripts are provided and casting is carefully considered to ensure an ensemble-focused production.
Will I have a substantial role?
Yes. Everyone in the company receives a meaningful speaking part and contributes to the ensemble. The production is built around the cast, allowing each member to shine while maintaining artistic integrity.
How experienced are the directors?
Your director will be a seasoned theatre professional with extensive experience both on stage and in rehearsal rooms. Many of our directors are actively working in the UK theatre scene and bring a strong commitment to actor development.
How large is the company?
The company is typically made up of 10–16 performers. This ensures a high-quality rehearsal process with plenty of individual attention and stage time for each actor.
Do I need to audition?
No, there is no audition required for the Assemble Theatre Company. Simply sign up and start rehearsing with the Company Director.
Can friends and family attend the performance?
Yes! You’ll be able to invite guests to the final show. Tickets will be available close to the performance date.
Artistic Policy
It is usual that plays are written with leading roles and smaller parts, however, to ensure that each member of the Company has an equal opportunity to perform, experience proves that rehearsing and performing ‘scenes’ rather than complete plays is the most effective policy. The Theatre Productions therefore consist of scenes and pieces linked to form an engaging show with all actors fully participating. The scenes, chosen to suit the individual actors cast, are usually contemporary and require minimal set and costume. We aim to use new writing and quality scripts that offer all members of the cast a real acting challenge. Your director will encourage ideas and script suggestions. Directors will have the final say on scripts in line with their vision for the show.
