Our Salsa Intermediate 2 Classes is a continuation of your salsa journey, taking you further into the seductive world of salsa. You’ll learn a range of techniques while developing your own personal style.
Salsa Intermediate 2 Classes require significant experience. Ideally, you have will have attended at least one Salsa - Intermediate class at City Academy or a 1-year course at another school. It’s certainly not for beginners, but you're not expected to be perfect either so don't worry.
You'll receive friendly feedback throughout, and you don’t need to bring a partner to join the course.
Salsa Intermediate 2 Classes Content
Exact content may differ depending on class size and course duration, but topics generally covered include:
- Applying elegance and sensuality in salsa
- Acquire creativity and confidence and develop your own smooth combinations
- Introduction to dancing on 2 ( Break on 2 = New York style, as well as Palladium style & Power 2)
- Learn complicated patterns, increasing the number of moves and extending the amount of time before a pattern is repeated
- Learn a variety of Warm up / Footwork / Partner work / Combinations / Double turn couple combinations
- Develop partner work skills, with a focus on Timing, Musicality, Technique, Styling
- Enrich ladies' and men's style separately
- Nights out dancing in salsa clubs
Level
Suitable for those with an existing salsa repertoire.
What to wear?
Clothing easy to move in. Bring along a water bottle.
Training
You will receive intensive and immersive dance training - be prepared for a challenge!

Understanding Our Salsa & Bachata Curriculum
Salsa and bachata are beautifully rich dances, full of technique, musicality, and finesse and like any true art form, they take time to develop and refine.
Each course within our curriculum is designed to be repeated, often more than once. You’ll work closely alongside your peers and your tutor, who will guide you in mastering every element of the material. When you’re ready, you’ll receive a sign-off to progress to the next level, ensuring a solid and confident foundation at every stage.
To support your learning, our bi-monthly afternoon Salsa Social is a friendly, welcoming, and safe space where you can practise what you’ve learned in class, build confidence on the dance floor, and most importantly, have fun.
Think of salsa as a marathon, not a sprint. There’s no rush, the joy is in the journey, slow and steady, with lots of smiles along the way.
Our role is to guide you and inspire you. We can’t wait to see you in class.
