Combine in-depth vocal training with acting techniques, in our unique Acting Through Song Courses you will explore material from the world of musical theatre. During the classes you will master the art of acting through song, combining both disciplines to give convincing and moving theatrical performances.
Choose to work on one song or try different ones. Our experienced tutor will help you select the best piece for your voice for the final class showcase. Each week you will work on your songs in front of the group in a masterclass style. This will be a supportive, open and friendly environment to build your confidence performing solos.
You will be encouraged to try new and challenging material for performance, as well as providing plenty of opportunity for individualised feedback and development from your tutor. The final class of the course will culminate in an informal showcase for invited friends and family, giving you the chance to put what you have learned into practice and share your progress.
This singing course is open to everyone and there is no audition required to join. However, in order to get the most out of the classes, some previous acting and singing experience is recommended.
You will receive friendly guidance and feedback from your tutor throughout the course.
ACTING THROUGH SONG COURSE CONTENT
During the Acting Through Song Course, you will:
- Learn to combine advanced acting techniques and vocal work
- Work on your solo singing with individualised feedback from your expert tutor
- Take part in full technical warm ups in each session to refine singing and acting techniques
- Add expression and confidence to your performances
- Perform in an informal showcase to invited guests at the end of the course
Class Size
This course has a maximum capacity of 12 students so that the tutor can provide enough one-on-one time, and detailed attention to each student.
What to bring
Sheet music or backing track of your choice, bottle of water.Bring any song you like for week 1. All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
PERFORM ON STAGE
Rehearse and perform a famous Musical on stage at a theatre in central London. Previous shows include: Legally Blonde, West Side Story, Sweeney Todd and more.
All of our tutors have experience performing on the West End and their friendly and supportive teaching will breakdown the steps into bitesize chunks.
