Our Improvisation - Level 3 With Showcase is aimed at students wanting to push their performance skills and gain a deeper, more practical experience of improvisation for performance.
Continuing to train your playful, spontaneous improvisation approach, you will work with leading industry professionals to build confidence and grow your creative voice, forming a connected & supportive improv team.
This improv class will explore Long-form Improv, delving more into character connection, scene dynamics, following the fun and flow of a scene, story structure, vocal technique and physicality. You'll also learn and perform more complex, advanced Improv games for performance. In preparation for a public showcase at the end of the course, you will discover how to follow your instincts to shape the show as a team without a host leading you.

COURSE CONTENT
The course will cover a range of carefully selected material to ensure it is challenging, varied, and above all, enjoyable.
Course content will include:
- Learn the key skills to create and perform a longform improv show
- Form a connected improv team with your classmates, making each other shine
- Start scenes form just a word, or even from nothing
- Work on building dramatic and comedic tension in your scenes
- Practise following the fun element of a scene and trusting the first idea
- Learn how and when to edit improv scenes for the best impact and flow
- Deepen your understanding of stage pictures, stillness and physicality
- Perform a full longform show to friends and family in a showcase
What to bring
Comfortable clothes (there will be some light movement so whatever you feel comfortable to move around in). Water. Notepad and pen if you like - however the sessions will be very active and you may not have time to make notes until afterwards.

No Venue
All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
