Food and Product Photography

Capture your creations, from perfect plates of food to hand crafted jewellery. On this course you will learn how to create beautiful images and equip yourself with the skills needed to enter the commercial product photography market. This course will give you all the tools to tackle the challenges when photographing food and products.

This practical course will develop your photography and lighting skills, enabling you to capture a wide range of products in various environments. We will talk you through how to use lighting, light modifiers, backgrounds, props and composition to create dynamic images for personal or commercial use.

FOOD & PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY - COURSE CONTENT

During this two day workshop you will be given the opportunity to learn a range of techniques used in food and product photography by professionals in the industry:

  • Camera techniques and settings for food and product photography
  • Natural light and flash lighting techniques
  • Styling scenes using backgrounds and props
  • Best practises with composition and lens choice
  • Working with the characteristics of different products and surfaces

This is a practical, studio based course with hands-on experience.

Level

A good understanding of basic exposure and your camera’s manual settings is advised.

Styles

You will trial various techniques and looks in a studio environment.

Equipment

You will be required to provide a DSLR or mirrorless camera with full manual controls. Lighting equipment, props and backgrounds will be provided.

YOU WILL NEED

We recommend you bring the following equipment with you to the course:

  • DSLR or mirrorless camera with full manual controls
  • Your camera’s manual
  • Fully charged battery
  • An empty memory card
  • Comfortable shoes
  • External flash (for some classes, if owned)

Membership to the Company will cover you for all classes, rehearsals and all shows from your joining date. The Company rehearses throughout the year, with the following breaks: Easter (one week break), Summer (3-week break) and Christmas.

To make membership fees more manageable, these breaks are accounted for within your monthly instalments across the year. This means there are no breaks in your monthly payments.
