Our Musical Theatre Foundation Courses, which merges both Beginners and Improvers into one, and will introduce you to the fundamental techniques needed to perform on the West End stage. It is the perfect way to explore the magic of musicals.
Over the five days, you will be working on technique through daily vocal and physical warm ups which will help build up stamina, improve your fitness and release those endorphins which will get you in the right mood for learning the material. You will be focusing on numbers from Les Miserables, Hairspray, Chicago and Wicked.
All your hard work spent on our musical theatre course will be well worth it as we will end the course on the final day by performing an informal showcase for friends and family.
IN THIS MUSICAL THEATRE FOUNDATION COURSE YOU WILL

- Learn dance material - repertoire includes You Can't Stop The Beat (Hairspray)
- Combine singing, acting and dance with All That Jazz (Chicago) and Loathing (Wicked)
- Solo masterclass focusing on Acting Through Song and vocal technique
- Rehearse and hone material before an informal showcase to friends and family

Weekdays, Tuesday to Saturday from 10.00-17.00. Mon:10-5pm, Tue:10-5pm, Wed:10-5pm, Thur: 10-5pm, Fri: 2-9pm.

COURSE OVERVIEW
Key dance numbers from Hairspray will allow you to fully focus on learning the moves without having to worry about singing at the same time.
Les Miserables will be your opportunity to work on vocal harmony, blending as an ensemble, look at how you use text in song to really highlight what you would like to say. This Les Miserables meledy is fully staged you will learn stage craft and how to take direction through a specialist workshop on Acting Through Song and staging.
All That Jazz from award-winning show, Chicago, will be you song and dance number to explore the colour in language and marrying up the lyrics with the movements. A real chance to act your socks off through song and dance.
Wicked is your chance to work on character. You will be encouraged by your expert tutor to be brave in your actions and to really go for it! You will perfect those punchy harmonies and delve into contemporary musicals, contrasting to the Les Miserables and All That Jazz vocal style.
What is this Feeling? from Wicked will be staged to challenge your multi-tasking skills.
You will have an option to sing one of the set songs from Les Miserables which are, I Dreamed a Dream, On My Own, Empty Chairs at Empty Tables or Stars. Or if you prefer you can sing a Musical Theatre song of your own choice. You will be invited to a Dropbox when you sign up for the course and on there will be the backing tracks and learning guides for the Les Miserables songs. If you are wanting to do a song of your own choice, please bring this with you in the form of a backing track or sheet music.
OUR APPROACH
Our Musical Theatre Foundation courses are taught by two teachers in order to maximise your learning experience. We will also have a masterclass session which will be our only opportunity to look at solos. The course is group lead so this is a great way for you to get specific feedback relating to vocal technique and storytelling.
Musical theatre classes are taught in a fun and supportive environment so don’t worry if you feel a bit nervous. We pride ourselves on our community values. We do not require you to be a seasoned performer, all we ask for is a positive attitude and energy to help make the classes as fun as possible!
