Ballroom Dance Taster

A one-off introductory session where you can try both Standard and Latin ballroom dances, meet our tutors, and get a feel for our teaching style before committing to a full course.

A taster helps you see if ballroom dancing is right for you. You’ll get a hands-on experience of different dance styles, build your confidence, and meet others with the same interest — all before committing to a longer programme.

No experience is required, and you don’t need a partner — our classes are designed to be inclusive, friendly, and easy to follow for complete beginners.

If you enjoy your session, you can continue into our Beginners Ballroom Dance Course. This structured programme will help you develop your technique, musicality, and partner skills over several weeks, learning popular ballroom and Latin dances in more detail.

The leader is the dancer who gently shows where the movement will go. They give clear signals—using their hands, body, and timing—to invite the other dancer to move in a certain way.

The follower is the dancer who listens to those signals and responds with their own movement. They don’t guess—they feel the leader’s guidance and move with them, in the same rhythm and direction.

A good follower is not passive—they are active, expressive, and always ready.

Yes! Anyone can be a leader or a follower. Some people learn both. It doesn’t depend on gender—just on who wants to guide and who wants to respond in the moment. In social dancing, partners sometimes even switch roles during the same song.
