Jive is a high-energy dance that started in the United States in the 1940s, taking inspiration from dances such as the Boogie, Rock & Roll, African/American Swing, the Jitterbug and the Lindy Hop.
In our Jive Dance Classes for Beginners you'll learn exciting moves such as ‘The American Swim’, ‘Throwaway’, ‘Comb’,’ Chicken Walks’, ‘Arm Breaker’ and ‘Jig Walks’ as well as basic 6-step footwork and partner twirls. All accompanied by the unmistakable rhythms of the Boogie Woogie and Rock n’ Roll music.
As with all our jive dance courses, Jive dance is a fantastic way to build your fitness, tone your body and build your confidence. You’ll also get the chance to socialise as you partner with new people to show off your fancy footwork.
Jive Dance Classes for Beginners Content
Our Jive Beginners course is perfect if you have had very little or no jive dance experience at all:
- Understand the fundamentals of essential jive dance
- Learn about posture and musicality of jive and movement, through warm-up, footwork, partner work and combinations
- Learn the basic jive 6-step and master turns, separations, spot turns, and right and left turns
- Improve your confidence in yourself and in your movement
You'll receive friendly feedback throughout the course.
