How to Draw - Beginners

Express your creativity, experiment with different mediums, and develop your drawing technique in a fun and supportive environment. Our How to Draw for Beginners classes are a relaxing haven away from your busy week.

This course is perfect for anyone who hasn’t done any drawing at all, or for those who have done a little drawing but want a reminder of the basics.

Working in pencil, charcoal and graphite you will capture a range of still-life objects, learning the fundamentals of proportion, light and shade, and simple perspective.

All materials are provided, and, like all of our art and drawing classes, you’ll receive plenty of guidance and friendly feedback. At the end of our lessons we will advise you on the next step to take on your drawing journey.

How to Draw for Beginners Classes Content

During the course, you will:

• Get things started with warm-up exercises – we’ll start with some quick sketches
• Work with still-life set pieces
• Develop different techniques with different materials
• Basic perspective and proportions
• Explore the different qualities of pencil, charcoal and pastels
• Receive guidance and feedback

Charcoal and pastel can be messy, so bring a protective apron (there will be a few available for those who have come straight from work), or wear washable clothes!

No need to bring anything else, just yourself and your creativity! All materials including paper will be provided.
