Advanced Acting Course

Take your acting craft to the next level with intensive, personalised training from leading industry professionals. The course culminates in a formal showcase to a small audience, followed by a Q&A with an agent or casting director. Actors are encouraged to invite industry connections to the showcase.

Please note: This course requires early sign up as participating students will be allocated a partner in advance of the course.

What You Will Learn

Course Structure

Pre-Course Preparation: After a preliminary online meeting, you will be paired with a scene partner and given a 10-minute scene from a play or film. You will be expected to read and understand the full script, rehearse outside of class, and arrive on the first day off-book, with props and costume choices for your initial showing.

First Presentation: In the opening sessions, each pair presents their scene to the group. Your tutor will then workshop the scene with you, offering detailed, actionable feedback and exercises.

Ongoing Development: Between classes, you will rehearse with your partner to incorporate feedback. You are expected to attend and actively observe other actors’ workshops, taking notes to learn from their process.

Second Presentation: You will perform your scene again, now refined through rehearsal and feedback. The tutor may continue to workshop the scene to polish your performance further.

Final Showcase: On the last day, your scene will be presented in a formal showcase to a small, invited audience followed by a Q&A session with an industry agent or casting director.

All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
