Then our Acting for Musical Theatre Workshop is for you. Our workshop will introduce you to the fundamentals of stagecraft, script work and the unique challenges of acting in Musical Theatre. You will explore ways to approach and analyse scripts, create effective characters and interact with other actors in the scene. And to top it off, our course is led by award-winning performer and City Academy MT Companies director, Robert Hazle. Our workshop is open to everyone but best suited to people who have already had the experience of Musical Theatre and wish to develop their acting skills. WHY YOU'LL LOVE THIS COURSE The workshop will guide you through a process from ‘page to stage’ and cover a range of carefully selected material to ensure it is challenging, varied, and above all, enjoyable. Performing a speech or monologue and receiving one-to-one coaching. Performing dramatic scenes with others and receiving direction. Building confidence in preparing and using a script for an audition or performance. Exploring ways to create believable, successful characters with clear motivations. Practising vocal and stagecraft skills in a rehearsal room environment. What to bring to this course A speech or monologue from a musical or play with music (please bring a printed copy of the text). A pencil and eraser. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water. Script Preparation Build confidence preparing and using a script for auditions, rehearsals and musical theatre performance. Character Motivation Explore how to create believable characters with clear motivations, helping your performance feel more grounded and expressive. Stagecraft Skills Develop practical stagecraft skills, learning how to use presence, focus and awareness in performance. Vocal Confidence Practise vocal skills that support clarity, confidence and connection when performing text. Bold Choices Challenge yourself to make stronger, more creative acting choices that bring energy and individuality to your work. Scene Work Perform dramatic scenes with other actors, building confidence, responsiveness and connection.
