DAY ONE: BREAK DANCING AND STREET
Our Street Dance Summer School begins with a practical introduction to a variety of Street and hip-hop dance styles. Beginning with a high energy urban street dance warm-up incorporating hip-hop grooves we’ll then delve straight into an Introduction to Breakdancing. In the afternoon we’ll focus solely on a Street Dance routine giving plenty of time to hone your performance.
DAY TWO: LOCKING, WAACKING AND MORE
Day Two starts with a high-energy Street Fitness workout, developing the muscles necessary for Street Dance. Continuing the day you’ll enjoy a technical lesson on ‘locking’ in the morning. After the lunch break you will learn some of the techniques of waacking and finish on a high with an upbeat funk style routine.
DAY THREE: CONDITIONING, COMMERCIAL AND RnB
After a high energy warm up to get the blood flowing we’ll explore street dance conditioning exercises to tone muscles and improve technique. You’ll then have the opportunity to enjoy our Commercial Class and develop dance moves in the style of House. We finish the day with an Afro Beats class and RnB routine.
DAY FOUR: Street Fitness and routine work
On day four you will start with a Street Fitness session in the morning to build muscles and stamina. Building on your group work from the week, the afternoon session focuses on Commercial Dance routines.
DAY FIVE: urban dance and final piece
This, our final day, brings together everything learnt over the week, starting with a Street Fitness session and followed by an Urban Dance class. After lunch you will have the chance to go over all of the choreography learnt, leaving you feeling confident in the various styles of routine.
To culminate the Street Dance School experience we’ll then end on a high by putting all of the routines from the week together to create a final piece as a group.
