Load More Meet Your Musical Director Nicole Wakabayashi is an American pianist, keyboardist, and music director based in London. Formerly Head of Performing Arts at Notre Dame School of Manhattan, she was named one of Yamaha’s ‘40 Under 40’ in 2023 for excellence in music education. She holds degrees from NYU and USC, having studied with Alexander Kobrin and Daniel Pollack. Nicole has performed internationally at venues including NPR’s Tiny Desk, the Apollo Theater, SXSW London, and festivals across Europe. She also sings with The Epiphoni Consort, recent winners of the Grand Prix at the Tallinn International Choir Competition. Nicole is currently developing her debut EP and brings a deep commitment to inclusive and empathetic music-making. Getting together each week to sing and work towards a performance brightens even the dreariest of Mondays for me. I like that the repertoire is mixed, sometimes I find myself singing songs I'd never have chosen. It can be challenging, but there's lots of support from our MD, Nicole, and other members. I even feel like my vocal range and tone has improved since joining. The group is really friendly, too. Everyone is keen to share tips, music recommendations, laughs and of course post-choir drinks.
