Chime into your inner harmonies with our City Academy Voices Choir. Our exciting contemporary choir tests your vocal chords with a variety of music styles including classical, musical theatre, pop and gospel. Our choir is open to singers of all genders with any voice type and is a great way of meeting like-minded people in a creative environment.
Refine your technique and improve your vocal ability as you meet weekly for rehearsal. Experience choir bliss as you perform twice a year on a London Stage.
If you’re interested in City Academy Voices, please join us for a taster session. During the taster, you will attend a regular drop in rehearsal and meet the rest of the group. The Musical Directorwill also take the opportunity to hear you sing to assess your ability. Following the taster, our team will inform you via email if you have been accepted.

Meet the Voices Choir Leader
The City Academy Voices is headed by Nicole Wakabayashi.
Nicole is an American pianist, keyboardist, and music director based in London. Formerly Head of Performing Arts at Notre Dame School of Manhattan, she was named one of Yamaha’s ‘40 Under 40’ in 2023 for excellence in music education. She holds degrees from NYU and USC, having studied with Alexander Kobrin and Daniel Pollack. Nicole has performed internationally at venues including NPR’s Tiny Desk, the Apollo Theater, SXSW London, and festivals across Europe. She also sings with The Epiphoni Consort, recent winners of the Grand Prix at the Tallinn International Choir Competition. Nicole is currently developing her debut EP and brings a deep commitment to inclusive and empathetic music-making.
Who Can Join?
The City Academy Voices is open to anyone with some previous singing experience. The choir is not suitable for absolute beginners. If you don't have the experience required, we recommend you complete a Beginners Singing and Improvers Singing course before progressing to the choir.

As a member of the Voices, you don’t have to commit to every rehearsal evening, as we appreciate people have busy lives. However, putting on a choir show takes hard work, practise at home and commitment in order for it to be a success, so we do ask that members attend as many classes as they can.
Performances
City Academy Voices perform in showcases and larger scale productions each year at prestigious music venues across London. Additional performances for the choir may also include community projects and live music events.

All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
