Human beings retain information in more detail and for a longer period of time when it is delivered as a narrative. Yet, all too often, in the workplace we fail to harness the power of narrative.
On our Storytelling for Business course, you will learn fundamental storytelling skills and explore ways to use these to connect with and influence others. Using a mixture of fictional and business content we will look at how to use story as a powerful tool to lead teams, communicate change, drive growth and capture the imagination of your audience.
Working in a small group and led by an actor and business coach we explore the value of story, how it works in a neurological sense, the key components and practical performance techniques for delivering a story with flair.
Previous Storytelling Clients include Google, Sky, LEGO, Brighton & Hove Council.
Course Content
In our Storytelling for Business course you will:
- Communicate complex information in an interesting way using narrative techniques
- Explore powerful story components including intention, suspense, turning points, surprise, sequencing, obstacle and navigation tools to give shape to your message.
- Learn the secret to powerful story types including the Hero's Journey, Rise and Fall and more.
- Manage nerves and learn connect using humour, imagination, imagery and metaphor.
- Explore body language techniques to support your story - posture, eye contact, expression, gesture and more.
- Learn vocal techniques including pitch, pace, pause, rhythm and tone to engage your audience.
- Enliven your workplace communication
- Flex your content to suit your sector, business context and audience.
- Craft and deliver a work-related story and receive personalised, constructive feedback
