Scottish Baritone Christopher Nairne is a Samling Artist and graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Alexander Gibson Opera School, where he completed an MMus in Opera. Recent performances include Count Carl-Magnus in A Little Night Music, a collaboration between Leeds Playhouse and Opera North, Marcello in La bohème for Nevill Holt Opera, Albert in Werther for Lyric Opera Ireland, and appearances as a soloist on the Scottish Opera Highlights Tour. In 2023 he made his debut with English National Opera as Morales in Carmen, before making his debuts with Scottish Opera and Opera Holland Park as Cascada in The Merry Widow. Earlier in his career, Christopher sang with Glasgow Cathedral, where he developed a strong foundation in choral and sacred music.
Alongside his performing career, Christopher maintains a busy private teaching practice, working with singers of all ages and abilities. He specialises in healthy vocal technique, confidence-building, and performance preparation, with experience preparing students for ABRSM and Trinity examinations in Classical and Operatic styles.
“Developing a strong vocal technique is about far more than producing sound — it is about learning how the whole body works together to communicate text, emotion, and character with confidence, freedom, and authenticity.”
