Hugh Wheatley

With 20 years of experience, I’m a qualified and experienced musician with a BMus degree from The London Centre of Contemporary Music. As a professional guitarist and vocalist, I’ve had the privilege of performing across the UK in several touring bands. As an enthusiastic and passionate teacher, I enjoy working with both children and adults to help them reach their musical goals. I understand that every musician is unique, so I tailor my lessons to each student’s individual needs, ensuring learning is both engaging and fun.

My teaching expertise lies in helping students at all levels develop practical, creative, and confident musicianship. I specialise in vocal training, focusing on building range, pitch accuracy, projection, tone, control, diction, runs, and vibrato across chest, head, and mixed voice. I also teach guitar fretboard mastery, breaking down triads, seventh chords, and scales in all positions to strengthen improvisation and composition. My lessons cover songwriting, helping students develop strong structures and bring ideas to life, alongside music production, from custom beats to full-scale recording and mixing. In addition, I guide students through music theory in a clear, accessible way, develop strong ear training skills, and offer jam-based sessions using songs of your choice to improve collaboration, performance, and musical understanding.
