Isabel Baquero

Isabel Baquero is a professional teacher and Choreographer, trained in Classical Ballet, flamenco, folk regional/classical Spanish dance, jazz, tap and ballroom dancing in Barcelona. In 1990 Isabel came to the UK on a scholarship, where she successfully graduated with Distinction in Musical Theatre Dance at the London Studio Centre, and also accomplished her Advance Classical Ballet certificate from the Royal Academy of Dancing (A.R.A.D.). She worked as a professional dancer in several productions for the BBC, Wives and Daughters, Madam Bovary, Daniel Deronda and has performed in various films, notably A Little Chaos, Shakespeare in Love, Pride and Prejudice. 

Isabel has performed in numerous productions at both the ENO and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. She held a prominent role in Richard Eyre’s production of La Traviata, performing in London, Tokyo, Guangzhou, Baden-Baden and Barcelona! Her choreography credits include Carmen and Don Giovanni for Diva Opera, Barber of Seville for Garsington Opera, Carmen at Longborough Opera, La Rondine at the Royal Opera House, The Gondoliers at Scottish Opera, La Traviata at Northern Ireland Opera, and Flamenco Dance Coach & Choreographer in Mike Leigh’s film Happy Go Lucky. Isabel was dancing coach on BBC1’s Strictly Come Dancing, and ITV’s Dancing on Ice. She was the choreographer for the Warner Brothers Hollywood film Wonder Woman. Isabel has a B.A. (Hons.) in Dance Education. She is a guest dance tutor and choreographer at prestigious institutions i.e. Millennium Performing Arts, LAMDA, RADA, and a movement coach at the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme, at the Royal Opera House.

A very focused, established and organised dance coach, teacher, lecturer & choreographer, with extensive experience gained working in high profile performing arts institutions, theatre, opera, film, digital and TV productions.
