Jack Kinsman is an architectural designer and practicing artist specialising in drawing. He holds an MFA from the Slade School of Fine Art and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the Bartlett School of Architecture. His background in architectural design strongly informs his artistic practice, using spatial thinking to explore human interaction with urban environments.
Many of his illustrative works draw inspiration from the comic book cultures he grew up on, using narrative and character driven perspectives to explore subversive sculptural worlds. Jack has worked on comic strips for student journals, conceptual animated shorts and illustrated for independent children’s books, allowing him to hone his practical understanding of comic and graphic novel development.
As an interdisciplinary artist himself, Jack is a strong advocate for embracing the wealth of backgrounds and experiences you will bring to your own comics and is excited to explore the unique ways in which you will tell your very own stories. Keep drawing.
Jack believes in mastering and understanding the fundamentals so that you can push them to their limits. Jack believes that drawing is learning and is keen to get students drawing to question and discover the art of visual storytelling.
