Jasween Gabrhi is a professional dancer and teacher based in London who has specialised in Bollywood and Bhangra over the past seven years, training at academies such as Epika Dance.
She has worked with UK dance companies in commercial, movie and music videos, and performed at the likes of O2 Arena, where she danced in Bollywood Showdown alongside famous Bollywood singer, Atif Aslam.
Jasween is an experienced bollywood dance teacher and has also been teaching Bollywood and Bhangra with Emiko at City Academy. She believes anyone is capable of learning to dance, and her aim is to keep classes energised so that students not only learn new moves, but leave feeling like they’ve had a good workout too. “Bollywood is so vast in its styles, it can cater to anyone. It can be more expressive and elegant or the choreography can be upbeat like Street and Hip Hop, and Bhangra is a fantastic and fun cardio workout,” she says.
“Go ahead and try something new, you have nothing to lose and you never know this could be your new hobby or undiscovered talent. Dance has been my passion from a very young age of four, but I only started doing it professionally seven years ago. And being able to pass on my knowledge to others, or any form of teaching, is a gift. I get my drive and excitement from that moment my students grasp a move, it makes me feel happy.”
