Jodi Holmes is an artist and educator from the United States, now based in the United Kingdom. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from Northwest Missouri State University and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from the University of Colorado Boulder. Her practice centres on contemporary landscape painting and collage. Working primarily with oil paint and collage, Jodi creates layered compositions that merge structured quilt patterns with imagery drawn from a personal archive of vintage travel books. Her work explores themes of memory, nostalgia, and the ways places are remembered and reimagined over time.
Jodi has exhibited her work widely across the United States and internationally, including in Spain, Germany, the Cayman Islands, and the United Kingdom.
Alongside her studio practice, Jodi has developed an extensive teaching career in the United States. She has worked as an educator at the University of Michigan, Greenville Technical College, and the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, teaching painting, drawing, and mixed media in both academic and studio-based settings. As a teacher, Jodi is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment that builds confidence through skill-building and fosters joy in the creative process.
“My teaching balances technical skill-building with experimentation, encouraging students to think critically and develop an authentic artistic practice.”
