Martin Stitt is a British Independent Film Award nominated writer and director.
His last two films ‘What Does Your Daddy Do?’ and ‘Family Jewels’ both premiered at the Venice Film Festival. ‘What Does Your Daddy Do?’ went on to be nominated for a British Independent Film Award, while ‘Family Jewels’ received a US premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.
He studied for an MFA in directing at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, where he was awarded a Sloan Scholarship and an Alumni Scholarship. On his return to the UK, he was selected for the BFI sponsored scheme Guiding Lights, where he was mentored by Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Revolutionary Road).
Career highlights include: writing and directing films in Kosovo, Nepal, California and Oman. Producing a TV series for United Nations TV, improvised and shot a drama-documentary on the Tibetan Plateau, written eight feature scripts for various production companies and directed an hour-long drama ‘Alone Together’ based on the stage play ‘Rules of Engagement’. He has directed commercials and short films for clients as diverse as ATOC, Chanel, LOCOG and ASUS. In his free time he works as a guest film reviewer for BBC Radio 5 Live.
As well as being a highly experienced film trainer, he is currently in post-production on ‘Love Me Do’ a feature film he has written and directed.
