Sarah is an actor, novelist, singer and casting assistant. She studied double hons English and Drama at The University of Manchester, graduating with First Class Honours in English Literature, and studied Method Acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York. In 2021 she did the Curtis Brown Creative Three-month Novel Writing course.
Her pen name is Eliza Moss and her debut novel What It’s Like in Words was acquired by Henry Holt (Macmillan US) and published in December 2024. It was included in People Magazine’s best books of December, Real Simple’s best books of 2024, The Chicago Review of Books “12 Must-Read Books of December 2024”, and it was an Aardvark Book Club December pick. She is currently adapting it for screen, writing her first play, and working on her sophomore novel.
As an actor she has worked predominantly in theatre. Roles include Miss Casewell in The Mousetrap at The St. Martin’s Theatre in which she was part of the cast that re-opened the West End, Little Voice in Jim Cartwright’s The Rise and Fall of Little Voice at The Theatre Chipping Norton and Greenwich Theatre, and Girl in Once at The Barn. She has toured with The Old Vic’s Noises Off, and the musicals Million Dollar Quartet, and Twentieth Century Boy. In 2023 she understudied and played the role of Pam in the world premiere of Madhouse opposite David Harbour and Bill Pullman. She has been fortunate to have worked with and learned from directors such as Lindsay Posner, Chris Honer and Sir Trevor Nunn. As a singer-songwriter she has written three EPs and regularly collaborates with other musicians.
Lee Strasberg said: ‘the human being who acts is the human being who lives. That is a terrifying circumstance.’
Sarah’s classes focus on fun and creativity but with an emphasis on the practical elements of the business. She regularly beta-reads and edits for other novelists and scriptwriters, and as a casting assistant has seen hundreds of auditions, and what stands out in both disciplines is the same: a marriage of instinct and craft. You have to find your own unique voice and then use the tools to communicate it.
Sarah’s classes will explore the different tools needed to approach acting, allowing students to practise in a fun, relaxed and judgement-free space.
