The Ballet Company is one of City Academy’s premier resident dance companies. With weekly evening rehearsals and regular performances throughout the year, the Ballet Company aims to be one of the most exciting ballet performance groups in London.
Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings from 7:20 pm - 9:20 pm at Westminster Kingsway College.
In weekly rehearsals, you will develop in the following areas:
Ongoing weekly rehearsals and an annual performance
Westminster Kingsway College, Grays Inn Road
You will learn ballet technique, existing repertoire and new choreography
You should have knowledge of classical ballet vocabulary, be confident executing grande allegro, pirouettes, and some point work
The Ballet Company is for those who have completed Improvers level ballet classes at City Academy, an equivalent ballet course, or who have experience in ballet performance. To be accepted into the Ballet Company it is necessary to first attend a taster class, you can book your taster class in the timetable below.
Once you have attended a Company taster, and the Company is the right match for you, we will contact you to sign up for the Company on an ongoing basis.
The membership fee is £80 per month. There is a minimum membership period of 3 months. This will cover you for all rehearsals and shows for the duration of your membership. (Note: Additional cost for costumes will be decided amongst the company each year and will be kept at a minimum.)
If you wish to cancel your membership please email info@city-academy.com at least 14 days before your next payment date.
The Ballet Company performs twice a year at the City Academy Winter and Spring Dance showcases.
This video shows our Ballet company performing at their 2017 Spring Showcase at Sadler's Wells. Dances are carefully choreographed by the Company Director, Georgia Heighway.
The company is led by Georgina Bishop, professional dancer and choreographer. Georgina trained at The Centre Performing Arts College and holds ISTD FDI teaching qualifications in ballet, tap and modern. She has also performed in cabaret shows La Nouvelle Eve Paris and Crazy Horse Paris.

Company members are welcoming, passionate and sociable. We are always looking for new members - so if you have a love of performing and are looking to develop your ballet technique, book a taster class to join the company for a fun evening rehearsal.

Membership to the Company will cover you for all classes, rehearsals and all shows from your joining date. The Company rehearses throughout the year, with the following breaks: Easter (one week break), Summer (3-week break) and Christmas.
To make membership fees more manageable, these breaks are accounted for within your monthly instalments across the year. This means there are no breaks in your monthly payments.

We offer a full refund or full credit if you cancel at least 72 hours before your first Company rehearsal.
We cannot offer any refund if you cancel less than 72 hours before your first Company rehearsal.

No Venue
All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
