Our Ballet Dance Company is one of City Academy’s premier resident dance companies. With weekly evening rehearsals and regular in-studio showcases throughout the year on and off pointe, the Ballet Company aims to be one of the most exciting ballet performance groups in London.
WHO CAN JOIN?
The Ballet Dance Company is for those who have completed our Ballet Improvers classes at City Academy, the equivalent, or who have experience in ballet performance.
HOW TO JOIN?
To join the Ballet Dance Company you can simply book a taster class here. In the class you’ll take part in a regular company rehearsal in a relaxed setting, giving you the perfect chance to meet the group in action. Following the class, we’ll email with an invitation to join the company or give suggestions for further training. The purpose of the session is so that you can meet the Company Director as well as get an idea of what membership entails and the level of skill involved.
As a Company member you will receive the following:
- Advanced-level training: weekly 2hr lessons in a central studio (with a 2 week break in December)
- 4 In-studio showcases: Share progress with friends & family in a relaxed, studio setting
- Guest tutors delivering master classes (2-4 times a year depending on the size of your company)
- 4 complimentary dance courses per year
- 50% off City Academy dance courses*
- 30% off other City Academy courses** (Musical Theatre, Acting, Singing and more)
- Free auditions for other companies (ie. Choirs, Theatre and other Dance Companies)
- Free tasters (eg. Art, Acting, Singing and more)
- Branded T-shirt, water bottle and towel
*Excludes long form courses, showreel, voice-over reel, foundation, ongoing companies/collectives, tailored business & private tuition. Places subject to availability with a maximum of two complimentary member places per course.
REHEARSALS
In weekly rehearsals, you will:
- Develop and refine ballet technique
- Improve musicality, timing and styling
- Learn challenging and innovative choreography
- Build confidence and learn dynamics of performing
Training
You will learn ballet technique, existing repertoire and new choreography
Level
You should have knowledge of classical ballet vocabulary, be confident executing grande allegro, pirouettes, and some pointe work
BALLET DANCE COMPANY - IS IT FOR ME?
City Academy's Ballet Company is a company of advanced (non-professional) dancers which focuses on technical advancement and repertoire learning. With their foundation of ballet and music history, the company look to choreography as a means of storytelling.
Dancers interested in the Ballet Company must be proficient in an advanced/intermediate knowledge of diverse ballet vocabulary and technical execution as time is focused on technical advancement and rehearsal, rather than foundational learning and vocabulary.
It is a safe space of challenge, exploration, discovery, and creation.
The Ballet Dance Company is for those who have completed Improvers level ballet classes at City Academy, an equivalent ballet course, or who have experience in ballet performance.
COMPANY MEMBERSHIP
The membership fee is £80 per month. There is a minimum membership period of 3 months. This will cover you for all rehearsals and showcases for the duration of your membership.
If you wish to discontinue your membership, our team are on hand and you would simply need to email info@city-academy.com with 14 days notice before your next payment date.
COMPANY DIRECTOR
The Ballet Dance Company is led by Júlia Molas. Júlia was born in Barcelona where she fell in love with ballet just before turning 3 at Studio Isadora, a local ballet school. After graduating from the dance Conservatoire in Barcelona, she moved to Antwerp, Belgium to train at the Royal Ballet School of Flanders. Between these schools and several summer intensives, Júlia received Cuban, Russian, French, Bournonville and English ballet technique training.

*Please note, membership to Resident Companies & the Dance Foundation Course are excluded from this offer.

No Venue
All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
