3 Month Filmmaking Course

3 Month Filmmaking Course

Our 3 Month Filmmaking Course offers intensive training, three days per week over three consecutive months.

Ideal for anyone considering a career as a filmmaker, you will work as a small film crew to plan, shoot and edit a short film, written by advanced City Academy screenwriting students. The course is flexible to your learning requirements and you will be given the space and structure to gain experience in a variety of roles. You will cover both the creative and technical elements of filmmaking.

The three months will culminate in a screening of your work for an invited audience of friends, family and industry representatives. Expect to learn from professional filmmakers, tutors and use industry standard equipment throughout. You will be based in Central London’s most exciting and creative studios as well as working on-location.

With an emphasis on storytelling, understanding scripts, visual analysis and working with actors, this course encourages you to start thinking about creative identity and what stories you want to tell as a filmmaker.

Through learning about the roles involved in filmmaking, successful communication, budgeting, image making, film history, scriptwriting and creating a vision, you will gain all the knowledge you need to find a way into the industry, with a short film to show for it.

It is essential that students taking on this venture have done at least a beginners film making course, or equivalent.

No Venue

All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
