Empower yourself to step into the fullness of your potential. Take The Leap is a thrilling workshop that will feature Dé Obia delivering an intense 2 day masterclass, taking you on a journey through your blocks, doubts and fears.
In Take The Leap, Dé Obia will lead you to break the Fourth Wall on your reality. The Fourth Wall is 'theatre speak' for the divide between the fictional and the real world. Take The Leap is about being unreal in the expectations you have set for yourself and in your potential to meet those expectations in the work we will cover.
Take The Leap is built on the principle that life isn't a dress rehearsal and that the only time is NOW. We will create work, which we will perform to at the end of the workshop to an invited audience. You will live every beat of these two days as the creative artist that you imagine yourself to be. This is a workshop for the bold, courageous and those willing to feel the fear and Take The Leap.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

- Break out of the confines of the studio
- Leave behind theory
- Practice to create on-the-spot theatre and performance sketches which will performed at the end of the workshop to an invited audience.

About Dé Obia Oparei
From fractured beginnings that included childhood poverty and homelessness, Dé Obia's unconventional path to Hollywood success is a stark lesson in making a way out of no way.
Having decided against going to drama school his sheer force of will, talent and character led him into the hallowed halls of The Royal Shakespeare Company, The Royal National Theatre, and the Royal Court Theatre - where he honed his technique and refined his craft. Leading him to work alongside the industry's most successful movie stars, Nicole Kidman (Moulin Rouge), Johnny Depp (Pirates Of The Caribbean), The Rock (DOOM), Ryan Gosling (The Gray Man).

No Venue
All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
