Alex Demetris

Alex Demetris is a self-taught creator of comics, cartoons, storyboards and illustrations.

After a youth spent doodling and drawing, Alex attended an evening class in drawing comics which then then led to MA in Illustration at Camberwell College of Arts. While still studying, Alex produced a comic about his family’s experience of dealing with his father’s dementia, and this was published in December 2015.

Alex has also contributed illustrations to a children’s book, storyboards for a number of short films, and produced two of his own self-published small press comics.

As our Comic Book Teacher, Alex enjoys the challenge of telling a story using images and words, and loves teaching as it enables him to share this enthusiasm with his students. His classes are fun and practical, and include lots of communal exercises designed develop skills and confidence.
