Christine Weir was born in Paisley, Scotland, but her parents moved to South Africa when she was 5 years old.
A seasoned singer, she’s sung in many musical genres with her favourites being Celtic, Folk, Pop, Musical Theatre and Rock. As a songwriter she writes, records and releases a new song every 3 months. You can hear some of her original work here.
From 2017 to 2019 she ran a successful Celtic show in Cape Town called ‘Christine and the Kilts’ where she aimed to introduce Celtic music to South African radio audiences with a podcast called ‘Under the Kilt’, which was nominated for Best Podcast in the South African Radio Awards 2021.
She currently hosts the podcast “On the Folkin’ Fringe” for Fine Music Radio.
She has a Dip LCM voice (TD), Estill Level 1 and 2 certificates, and Lovetri Somatic Voicework Level 1, 2, and 3 certificates.
She teaches all levels of singers – from young children to seasoned professionals, and with 3 decades of singing behind her, she has a lot of first-hand knowledge to pass on!
In 2017 she self-published a book on singing techniques called “Shut your Trap and Sing!”
