She was launch Art Director of Country Living magazine and won several awards for her work as a designer, and later went on to become the editor. Francine was also Editorial Director of Illustrated Books at Simon & Schuster UK. She has illustrated several books and you can see some examples of her work here.

As an art and drawing tutor, Francine teaches several City Academy art classes with artist and friend Susi Hoyle. Her classes are fun, creative and relaxed, and she loves sharing her passion for drawing with a huge range of students, from complete beginners to nervous returners.

“I never travel without my sketchbook, and love the feeling of losing myself in a drawing. Taking a photograph is easy, but is not nearly as satisfying as observing and then translating what you see through your hand to the paper. For me it has become a form of relaxation – meditation, even – and it need take only a few minutes.”

“Fran and Susi were great teachers, very patient, encouraging and full of praise. I learnt so much from them and enjoyed myself so much at the same time. I only wish the course was longer!”
