Kate Marlais

Kate is an award-winning composer, musical director, writer, and performer. She gained a music degree with composition major from King’s College London, and was made an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in 2018. She was the 2018-19 Cameron Mackintosh Resident Composer at Lyric Hammersmith. Kate has worked extensively alongside music/pop artists who are writing songs for stage.

Her credits as a Composer include, A Room of One’s Own (Film; London Library Literary Festival, also Sound Design); Fragments (Mandie Rapoza Dance Company – New York); Anahera (Finborough Theatre); Abandon (Lyric Hammersmith). And as Music Director/Arranger, Blood Harmony (Music by The Staves; ThickSkin – The Lowry/Traverse Theatre Edinburgh); Fatherland (Music by Karl Hyde of Underworld; Frantic Assembly – Manchester International Festival/Royal Exchange Theatre/Lyric Hammersmith/LIFT). And as a Vocal Coach, Enter Achilles (DV8/Rambert/Sadler’s Wells); Musik (Music by Pet Shop Boys; Leicester Square Theatre). Her performance credits include, War Horse (National Theatre) and The Human Comedy (Young Vic).
