Drawing the Masters

Drawing the Masters

Hone your style through recreating works from legendary artists through history. Explore your artistic ability through graphite, charcoal and water-soluble oil paint.

From the Renaissance to the Impressionists, you will be practising various classical approaches from paper and charcoal through to stretched canvas and water-soluble oil paints. Not only will you gain a deeper perspective of art history as you dive into the works of each artist, but also learn of the different practical approaches you can take to a project inspired by the Masters. Explore techniques that you can use to improve your work, and will introduce you to skills that will enable you to continue developing your paintings and drawing outside of class.

Learn the key skills the Masters have taken throughout their work in order to underpin your own style building towards a final Master Copy project. Towards the end of the course you will build towards a final project where you explore the ‘in-direct’ painting approach. You will refine your technique at presenting form whilst building our own Artistic Visual language through colour, composition and subject matter.
