Jose Agudo

Jose started his career in Andalusia, Spain where he began performing as a Flamenco dancer. Slowly the world of contemporary dance became more visible as he worked throughout Europe performing with International companies.

Bio

As a rehearsal director and assistant choreographer Jose has worked on several creations for Akram Khan Company, including the 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony.

Since 2008 Jose has done commissions for professional companies and Dance Schools around the globe. In 2017 Jose created Agudo Dance Company to keep his creative process. In 2019, he choreographed the opening ceremony of the Davis Cup by Rakuten in Madrid. And he is listed in the new edition of 50 Contemporary Choreographers. Agudo choreographed the flamenco scene at Strictly Ballroom the musical by Baz Lurhmann and perform as the character of Rico. And he was part of the publicity campaign for Madrid.

He just created the immersive physical theatre experience ‘Journey of a Refugee’ together with Sue Buckmaster
