Develop your idea for the small screen

Writing for Television

Writing for Television

Our Writing for Television course is a practical introduction to writing for TV, designed for adults who want to create compelling characters, story worlds and scripts for episodic storytelling.

Across the course, you will explore how television stories are built, from first idea and pitch to pilot, looking at how successful shows create characters, conflict and storylines that can continue across episodes. Through TV examples, writing exercises and tutor guidance, you will begin shaping your own idea for the small screen.

Your tutor will guide you through TV examples, writing tasks and group discussion, helping you strengthen your storytelling skills and understand how to take an idea from first concept towards a pitch, pilot or early script.
